I laughed some because of the unintended weirdness, but really, it was just bad. Its like the narrator feels the need to be very, very deeply dramatic, even when not appropriate to the story, but is only able to manage pissed off. The lovemaking, which is a little creepy to begin with, matching as it does Granny Little House on the Prairie with grouchy half-breed stereotype Nam vet, veers off into crazy-land as the narrator angrily YELLS non-angry sex. The hero's voice is somewhat better, though it didn't match the image the words created, but the narrator has a very angry, yelly manner. Even when she is in the midst of being ravished. Mackenzie's Legacy: Mackenzie's Mountain\Mackenzie's Mission (NYT Bestselling Author) by Howard, Linda and a great selection of related books, art and collectibles available now at. A 60 year old virgin-nympho cranky school marm who speaks with the cadence of pioneer America. The narrator voices her as a crotchety 60 year old. The main character is supposed to be a young virginal southern goodie-two-shoes teacher. But worse, the narrator is abysmal for this story. But she is a good teacher and wants Wolf Mackenzies son back in. Maybe an unabridged version would be better. Mary Elizabeth Potter is a spinster with no illusions about love. It weirdly jumps around and you have no understanding of why the main characters are suddenly, and rather creepily, porn-movie hot for one another. Bad on me for not realizing this was abridged.
